Blocks are standard-sized cube units which make up the landscape of any voxel-style game like Hytale.

Based on promotional images and video, it is clear that the world of Hytale is composed of various types of blocks. However, it is unclear how many types of blocks will be present in Hytale when it is released, and to what extent blocks will factor into gameplay and game mechanics such as crafting. As more information becomes available, the section below will be populated with a list of all known blocks.

Block types

There are eight categories of blocks that have been introduced so far. Although the names have not yet been confirmed, their purposes can be speculated:

General

These blocks are widespread throughout Hytale, and make up the landscape of the game world. It is also possible that many of the blocks in this category will also be used in crafting.

Benches

Blocks of this type are utility-type objects, which take up multiple blocks of space, and are used to advance the player in any way, such as crafting or creating objects. These blocks can be used to smelt Ores into Bars, forge Weapons, Armor, brew Potions and concoctions or to cook and create Food. These blocks commonly have their own user interface to aid the player.

Workstations are a category of Blocks, referring to tables in which crafting is done.

This crafting category includes, Weapons, Armor, other types of Equipment, smelting Ores into Bars, brewing Potions or concoctions and cooking or creating Food. Some Workstations even offer the option to craft different building Blocks.

Storage

These utility blocks are much like tables/benches (taking up multiple blocks of space), except they can be used to store the player's items. This effectively frees up the players inventory for more items. This category also includes blocks that can be broken and reward the player with a common item that was found within the world.

Decoration

These refer to any block that doesn't have a functional use and merely acts as an ascetic decoration.

Decorations are a category of blocks in Hytale primarily used to enhance the visual appearance of builds and environments. These blocks generally have no direct functional purpose and exist to add atmosphere, detail, and character to an area.

Overview

Decorative blocks can be placed on or around other blocks to improve the aesthetic appeal of structures, interiors, and landscapes. In addition to player placement, the world itself may naturally generate decorative elements to enrich environments and make locations feel more alive and detailed.

While most blocks in this category are purely cosmetic, the Decorations category may also include certain items that do not yet have a clearly defined functional category, due to limited or incomplete information at this time.

Usage

Decorative blocks are commonly used for:

  • Interior design and furnishing
  • Exterior detailing and landscaping
  • Thematic or role-play builds
  • Adding environmental variety and realism

They help distinguish spaces visually without impacting gameplay mechanics.
